Does God Want Me to be Happy?

The Declaration of Independence enshrines the “pursuit of happiness” as a God-given right. Some folks believe God is happy when we do what makes us happy. However, the pursuit of happiness can lead to selfishness, short-sightedness, collateral damage, and a misunderstanding of God. Christians can know joy, but joy and happiness are not the same.
